MOBILE RADIO UNIT (MRU)

The MRU contains the telemetry transceiver, safety radio receiver, and video transmitter for the robotic vehicle side of the Standardized Robotic System.  The MRU transforms the RS-232 telemetry data stream to the radio frequency (RF) energy for the antenna, as well as converting RF energy to the telemetry RS-232 interface.

The video transmitter transforms an RS-170 color video signal and two audio channels to RF energy. The RF frequencies are set by the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) using a Controller Area Network interface. Safety radio signals are converted from RF energy to discrete signals required by the Power System Unit and VCU.
