MOBILE ANTENNA (MANT)

A single mast carries all three of the Standardized Robotic System's radio antennas on the robotic vehicle. At the top of the mast are four whip antennas.

The mast uses the same heavy-duty spring (not shown) as the Base Antenna. This spring is similar to that used on the standard US Army Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System whip antenna mount.

This spring mounting method provides sufficient strength and stiffness to keep the mast and antennas oriented vertically when accelerating or decelerating, yet provides enough flexibility to allow the entire assembly to bend and rebound from a tree limb or wire strike.
